Community

Despite significant advances in health science, the brain remains a mystery. Researchers still lack a clear understanding of how neurons control actions or how head trauma alters neurological function. This unpredictability makes brain trauma uniquely challenging, leaving victims and their loved ones feeling isolated as they navigate uncertain recovery paths.

At Hold Fast Foundation, community is at the heart of our mission. We provide support and understanding to those impacted by brain trauma, offering a space where fear, doubt, and loneliness are met with empathy and connection.

You are not alone. Whether you have experienced brain trauma or support someone who has, we are here for you.

Did you know?

Youth Brains Are More Vulnerable
Developing brains and weaker neck muscles make children and teens more susceptible to concussions and brain injuries.

Repeated Injuries Have Long-Term Effects

Multiple head impacts can lead to devastating effects later in life. A 2015 study found that 58% of concussions occurred in practice vs 42% in games. Making practices and games safer will make a difference.

Concussions Are Often Missed

Symptoms like headaches, dizziness, and confusion are easy to overlook, leading athletes to return to play too soon and risk further harm. There are sideline tests and protocols that can more objectively evaluate athletes.

Prevention Is Key

Proper equipment, safer practices, and pre and post-concussion protocols significantly reduce the risk

of brain injuries in youth sports.

The Q-Collar and KD Test are just two ways we can help your program be better equipped to protect.

the Q-collar

Dr. Wayne Olan, Director of Interventional and Endovascular Neurosurgery at George Washington Medical Center, sits down to discuss the prevalence of brain injury in sport and how the Q-Collar can play a role in significantly reducing that risk. The Q-Collar is the only sports equipment proven to help protect the brain.

Let us help you get your team into the Q-Collar.

King Devick Test

The King Devick Test is an eye movement tracking test that can be done preseason to provide a baseline for every athlete. If a suspected injury occurs the test can be retaken, right on the sidelines.  If there is a deficiency verses the baseline, any coach, athletic trainer, or parent will be better informed to keep a student out of the game if they might have a concussion.

Let us help you get the iPad based version of this test on your sidelines.

Care & recovery

Every injury is unique, and we work closely with survivors and families to advocate for the best treatments and connect them to the right resources. This work comes with significant financial needs, and your donations make a real impact.

At Hold Fast, we say, “Giving up is not an option. Giving in is not an option.” Rooted in faith, we believe what happens to you also happens for you. We have faith in God, the power of community, and the promise of hope and hard work to create a brighter future.

If you or a loved one has suffered a concussion, we recommend the CLF Helpline. Call 911 in an emergency.
